What's on my mind today?

My mom is. She's getting old and she's starting to lose her short term memory. That's the long and the short of it although there are endless manifestations each of which could be a post in itself. She lives alone and has flatly refused to even consider moving. We have whole, involved conversations and come to real conclusions that she then loses all memory of.

She's also physically frail. She got 2 feet of snow dumped on her and can't shovel herself out. She drives a CRV which has all-wheel drive so she was able to rock herself out of her driveway but that's about it. Where we're going to park on Christmas is anyone's guess. When we spoke about the snow on Saturday she said that she had someone who was going to dig her out but the story has become very confused and I guess the bottom line is that she doesn't. I'm going to have to find a way to hire someone to shovel for her, I think.

I don't think I even need to mention what an absolute terror she is on the roads. It's really, really bad. It's probably only the fact that she drives about 15 mph under the speed limit almost all the time that has prevented her from causing an accident.

There isn't anything I can do. I would take her in here in a heartbeat. I'd even take that miserable dog in too if it meant she'd be taken care of.
